Michael was a true volunteer, fearless and upright. He was the founder of Lough Neagh Rescue Antrim, a Commander in the Community Rescue Service, and the 1st Coastguard for the Lough Neagh area. Michael never shirked from his duties, he was inspirational and led from the front. Through the most trying of times he supported and stood by his colleagues, he was honest, hard working with a dry sense of humour and fun. We are the poorer from his passing, we have lost an environmental champion who became such before it was fashionable, we have also lost the most knowledgeable Mariner Lough Neagh will ever know. It was clear to anyone who knew him that he was devoted to his family, Flo was always by his side making tea whenever we would call, our hearts break for her. Most of all he was our friend, God Bless Michael Savage, we'll see you on the other side.
